The international 3 Minutes Thesis (3MT) competition was launched at the College of Science under the patronage of the President of the University of Basra, Dr. Muhannad Jawad Kadhim, and under the supervision of the Assistant President for Scientific Affairs, Dr. Haider Khazal Mahbas, and under the direct supervision of the Dean of the College of Science, Dr. Ali Abdul Imam Abdul Zahra.
The competition featured doctoral students from the college, who competed to present their research theses in just three minutes, using a simple and clear scientific style, before a specialized scientific evaluation committee and a general academic audience.
The Department of Ecology participated with five research proposals submitted by doctoral students from the department. The Department of Ecology won first and second places in the competition, with the winners being Inaam Abdul Amir Abdul Hussein and Inas Awni Mahdi. The winners were honored with shields and qualified to compete at the university level.
