Master’s Thesis Explores Early Nutrition and Production in Quail
A master’s thesis at the College of Veterinary Medicine, University of Basra, investigated the impact of early feeding with specially formulated diets enriched with dietary glycerin on the growth and intestinal health of newly hatched quail.
The research, conducted by graduate student Sara Ayad Mohsen, involved molecular analysis of the MUC2 gene using Real-Time PCR, a key marker for intestinal health and the efficiency of digestion and nutrient absorption.
Findings revealed that early feeding with glycerin supplementation enhanced yolk sac absorption, improved digestive and absorptive capacity, and increased MUC2 gene expression, leading to better intestinal health and overall growth performance.
