A doctoral thesis at the College of Agriculture at the University of Basra examined the spatial variability of micronutrients in some soils in Basra Governorate, using geospatial technologies.
The thesis, presented by researcher Mohammed Jawad Mustafa, aimed to determine the spatial variability of micronutrients within agricultural lands in the north and south of Basra Governorate.
The thesis included field, laboratory, and office work in two study areas in the north and south of Basra. Data analysis and reduction were performed, soil classification was performed according to fertility and micronutrient content, and correlations were established between micronutrients and some of the soil characteristics studied.
The thesis concluded that the available and total quantities of micronutrients varied depending on the studied area, with the northern Basra region outperforming the southern Basra region.
The study recommended further research by cultivating a specific crop, adding levels of the studied elements, and linking growth factors and yield to the quantity of extracted elements.
