The ability of some algae in its free and immobilized form to remove some organic compounds and heavy elements
The thesis discussed the application of immobilization technology to two types of green algae and one type of blue-green algae after their morphological and genetic diagnosis using two types of biopolymers, alginate and carrageenan, and their application in the biological treatment of hydrocarbon pollutants and two types of heavy elements, nickel and . Modern diagnostic methods were used in the study, including FTIR, SEM, and EDX to diagnose heavy elements. GC and GC-mass techniques were also used to diagnose hydrocarbon compounds.
The thesis concluded that Oscillatoria algae in its free form was better at treatment, while the restricted form of the other two algae was better at treatment, and that the restriction technique is a modern, safe, environmentally friendly, and effective technique in the biological treatment of pollutants and can be applied practically in treatment plants as part of environmental sustainability solutions.
The researcher received a distinction for her thesis.
