The College of Agriculture at the University of Basra hosted the National Accreditation Assessment Team, as part of the university's efforts to meet the requirements for institutional accreditation. This visit was conducted under the supervision of the Scientific Supervision and Evaluation Department of the Quality Assurance and Academic Performance Directorate at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
This visit is part of a series of evaluation procedures implemented by the Ministry, reflecting its commitment to promoting a culture of quality and institutional accreditation in higher education institutions, and encouraging them to achieve the highest internationally recognized academic and administrative standards.
Professor Dr. Sarmad Ghazi Mohammed Al-Shawi, Dean of the College of Agriculture, affirmed that the college is steadily progressing towards fulfilling all the requirements for institutional accreditation, through infrastructure development, enhancing the capabilities of the academic and administrative staff, and strengthening scientific research in line with continuous improvement plans. He also indicated that the college aims to be an outstanding academic center that meets the aspirations of researchers and enhances their role in serving the community.
Dr. Al-Shawi described the visit of the national team as a significant and valuable support for the university's efforts to establish comprehensive quality principles and elevate its academic, research, and service levels. He emphasized that the recommendations and observations provided by the team will serve as a clear roadmap for further progress and an opportunity to improve performance in accordance with national and international accreditation standards.
For their part, the members of the national team commended the college's efforts in facilitating the accreditation process and their cooperation in ensuring a smooth and efficient visit. This visit reflects the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research's commitment to monitoring the performance of Iraqi universities and encouraging them to achieve international quality standards. It further strengthens Basra University's position as a leading academic institution at both the national and regional levels, and contributes to its ongoing efforts to achieve excellence in higher education.
