Under the generous patronage of the President of the University of Basra, Professor Dr. Muhannad Jawad Kadhim, and under the direct supervision of the Dean of the College of Education for Pure Sciences, Professor Dr. Majid Mohammed Jassim, the college launched the "Graduation Portfolio" initiative as a unique platform aimed at enhancing students' opportunities in the job market.
The launch of the initiative was the culmination of a workshop organized by the Department of Computer Science in cooperation with the Center for Development and Continuing Education, with the attendance and direct supervision of the Head of the Department, Professor Dr. Hamid Ali Abdul-Asadi. The workshop, which targeted fourth-year students and recent graduates, took place in the department's discussion hall on Wednesday, October 8, 2025.
The initiative represents a practical embodiment of the Ministry of Higher Education's approach to linking educational outcomes with the needs of the job market. It aims to transform graduation projects from traditional academic research into comprehensive professional portfolios. The initiative's practical content was delivered by the Head of the Computer Science Department, along with a group of distinguished graduates: graduate Nima Majed Nima, graduate Murtadha Haider Abdul Redha, and graduate Muhammad Adnan Sayhoud. They shared their valuable practical experience and successful examples from their real-life experiences in the job market.
The initiative sought to enable students to transform their research projects into tangible evidence of their professional competencies, enhancing their chances of competing in the job market and contributing to building a successful career path. The initiative responded to program accreditation requirements and aligned with modern visions for developing higher education.
The initiative witnessed significant interaction from attendees, with students expressing their appreciation for the efforts made to transfer knowledge and link academic aspects with the practical requirements of the job market. The Deanship affirmed the continuation of this initiative and its development to include other specializations, based on the college's responsibility to prepare graduates capable of effectively contributing to building a knowledge economy
