Under the patronage of the President of the University of Basra, Professor Dr. Muhannad Jawad Kadhim, and under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Nursing at the University of Basra, Assistant Professor Dr. Majid Asghar Muhammad al-Nawab, the Continuing Education Unit, in cooperation with the Student Activities Unit and the Sports Medicine and Physiotherapy Syndicate, organized a workshop on sports injuries and rehabilitation methods. The workshop featured lectures by Dr. Khalil Ibrahim Sadiq, Consultant Orthopedic and Fracture Surgeon; Professor Dr. Qusay Saleh Malallah, President of the Sports Medicine and Physiotherapy Syndicate; Professor Dr. Salam Jaber Abdullah, Professor in the College of Physical Education; Assistant Professor Dr. Ali Sabbar Muhammad, Faculty Member at the College of Physical Education; and Assistant Professor Mahdi Dinar, Lecturer in the Student Activities Department.
The target audience was graduates and students of the College of Nursing and the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences, as well as anyone interested in working in sports medicine and physiotherapy.
The workshop, which covered several important topics, included both theoretical and practical aspects. The theoretical aspect addressed the concept of general injuries, as well as sports injuries, how and when they occur, and their causes. The practical aspect involved applying methods of prevention and treatment for injuries that may occur on the field in various sports.
The workshop aimed to identify the types of sports injuries that each player is exposed to, depending on the sport they practice. Furthermore, it aimed to learn how to avoid sports injuries and the role of certain sports equipment in treating sports injuries.
