The Educational Guidance Unit at the College of Marine Sciences at the University of Basra, in collaboration with the Second Police College and the Human Rights Unit, organized an awareness workshop titled "Drugs and Their Negative Impact on Individuals and Society" on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, in the conference hall.
The workshop aimed to raise community awareness about the drug phenomenon and its causes, as well as provide the necessary awareness on methods of psychological and social support for individuals at risk. It also encouraged discussion on ways to address this phenomenon in society, emphasizing the importance of sustainable development in reducing this phenomenon and providing attendees with information on how to recognize the warning signs associated with drugs.
The workshop included a lecture delivered by judicial expert Dr. Bassam Muftin Al-Lami, who addressed various aspects of drugs, including psychological and social causes and methods of prevention and treatment. This contributed to enhancing community understanding and promoting sustainable development efforts to address this issue.
