Professor Mufid Turki Rashid, Dean of the College of Engineering at the University of Basra, along with Professor Alaa Abdulrazzaq, a lecturer in the Department of Chemical Engineering, participated in the Cairo Water Week Conference, one of the most prominent international forums addressing water challenges and climate change in the Middle East and the world.
The conference featured the presentation of numerous scientific research papers on water treatment, climate change, and sustainable solutions for preserving water resources, with broad participation from international academic and research institutions.
On the sidelines of the conference, the college delegation met with members of the Dutch IHE organization, which specializes in climate change, water, and soil treatment issues. They agreed to enhance joint cooperation and propose further future research activities and projects, in line with the directives of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, which signed a cooperation document with the Dutch IHE organization to support scientific research and development in the fields of water and the environment.
It is worth noting that the Cairo Water Week Conference is held annually under the auspices of the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation of the Arab Republic of Egypt. It aims to exchange scientific expertise and discuss regional and global solutions to water problems. The Dutch organization IHE Delft is one of the world's most prestigious institutions specializing in education and research in the fields of water and environment. It works to build capacity and strengthen academic partnerships in various countries around the world.
