The College of Agriculture at the University of Basra organized a seminar on the response of wheat crops to spraying with the biostimulant chitosan and green algae grown in slush-affected soils.
The seminar, delivered by researcher Mujtaba Talib Fahad, aimed to study the effect of different concentrations of the biostimulant chitosan and green algae, and their interaction, on the growth, yield, and quality of wheat crops.
The results showed a significant effect of both factors in improving growth characteristics, which was positively reflected in increasing the yield in quantity and quality.
The study also recommended the use of these organic materials, at the aforementioned concentrations, to increase wheat yields and other strategic crops, while reducing the use of chemical fertilizers to mitigate their impact on soil, plants, and human health.
