Under the direct supervision of Assistant Professor Dr. Majid Asghar Mohammed Al-Nawab, Dean of the College of Nursing at the University of Basra, the College's Continuing Education Unit organized a workshop on positive statistics. The workshop, presented by Assistant Lecturer Amal Mohammed Jawad, a faculty member, introduced positive statistics, a new and innovative approach in applied statistics that focuses on measuring, analyzing, and interpreting positive factors in human behavior, institutions, and various phenomena.
The workshop addressed the general concept and objectives of positive statistics. Unlike traditional statistics, which often focuses on diagnosing problems, deficiencies, and failure rates, positive statistics seeks to provide a more balanced and comprehensive picture by measuring success and achievement. It aims to monitor and evaluate aspects of progress and improvement rather than focusing solely on shortcomings. The workshop also touched upon understanding motivation and decision support, providing data that supports positive and motivating decisions for policymakers and researchers, thus contributing to creating more productive and positive environments.
