The Continuing Education Unit at the College of Nursing, University of Basra, in conjunction with the Human Rights Unit, organized an awareness seminar on "Drugs: The Silent Danger Threatening Societies."
The seminar featured presentations by Dr. Nuha Saeed Kadhim, Head of the Community Health Branch, and Assistant Lecturer Noor Salah Sharif, a faculty member at the college.
The seminar covered several topics, including an introduction to drugs, their types and classifications, the symptoms of drug use, the health, psychological, social, and economic harms of drugs, the role of family and society in combating drug addiction, and methods of drug prevention.
The seminar aimed to clarify the dangers of drug use to individuals and society, particularly among students, and the necessity of raising awareness and educating the public about these dangers, as well as the need for stricter penalties regarding drug trafficking and use. Spreading awareness and culture by holding conferences, seminars and workshops in this field to explain what drugs and stimulants do to the lives of society and how they destroy them.
