The College of Agriculture at the University of Basra organized a scientific workshop entitled "Genetic Sex Control in Mammals and Birds."
The workshop, presented by Dr. Salah Mahdi Al-Sudani, aimed to introduce the methods used in sex control in mammals and birds.
The workshop included an explanation of the mechanism by which sex control occurs through genes located on sex chromosomes, how certain techniques can alter the sex of offspring, and some of the factors and conditions that influence this process.
The workshop concluded that it is possible to change the sex of the offspring in the fertilized egg during the early days of embryonic development by manipulating the genes responsible for determining, expressing, and developing sexual characteristics using genetic engineering techniques.
