The Basic Sciences Department at the College of Dentistry, University of Basrah, organized an orientation lecture for first-year students. The lecture aimed to familiarize them with the most important courses for the current academic year and enhance their understanding of the academic path they will be taking at the college.
The lecture included a comprehensive presentation of the core scientific subjects and the teaching methods employed in laboratories and classrooms. It also explained methods of interaction and follow-up to ensure students are well-prepared for effective integration into the modern educational environment.
Second-year students also presented an introductory video showcasing the main topics of the courses and practical laboratories, highlighting the scientific foundations of the curriculum. This was done to share their experiences with the new students and help them understand the nature of the college's study requirements.
At the conclusion of the event, a representative from the first-year students was selected to coordinate between the students and the academic and administrative committees. This coordination will enhance communication and ensure that students' feedback and academic needs are addressed promptly. This lecture is part of the college’s plan to support new students and facilitate their transition to university life, by providing an interactive and integrated educational environment that contributes to building the university student’s personality and enhancing their academic skills.
