The Department of geoscience at the college of science at the University of Basrah organized a seminar on nanotechnology and its stages of development and applications. The seminar aimed to provide learners with a comprehensive understanding of the basics of nanotechnology, by identifying its concept and the properties of materials on the nanoscale, reviewing the stages of development of this science from its inception to modern applications, in addition to highlighting its most important uses in the fields of Earth Sciences, Engineering, Medicine, energy and the environment. The lecture also seeks to clarify the role of nanotechnology in the development of innovative and intelligent materials, and raise students ' awareness of the opportunities and challenges associated with its applications in practical life. The seminar in which the teachers were present included Dr.Hoda Ahmed Daham and Dr.The lecture reviews the stages of development of this field since the introduction of his idea in the Fifties of the last century up to modern applications, focusing on the uses of nanoscale in Earth Sciences and engineering such as smart concrete and composite materials and in the fields of medicine, energy, and the environment, and shows how this technology contributed to the development of Advanced Materials, High-Performance Coatings, and multifunctional systems that are among the most important innovations Scientific in modern times.
