Based on the words of God Almighty in His Holy Book: “And your Lord has decreed that you worship none but Him, and that you be dutiful to your parents” [Al-Isra: 23].
The Continuing Education Unit, in cooperation with the Human Rights Unit, organized an awareness seminar on “Honoring Parents.” The seminar was presented by Assistant Professor Dr. Wathiq Faroun, a faculty member at the college, and Research Assistant Nawras Talib.
The seminar aimed to highlight the importance of honoring one's parents as a gateway to Paradise. The speakers emphasized that God Almighty has prepared gardens as wide as the heavens and the earth for those who honor their parents, because God's pleasure is linked to the pleasure of parents. They stressed that no one who disobeys their parents will ever enter Paradise, and that honoring one's parents is a characteristic of believers who have fulfilled their obligations to God and His Messenger. Those who fulfill their parents' rights must also fulfill God's rights, as God Almighty has made disobedience to parents a major sin.
