A faculty member from the University of Basra researches the role of drones in monitoring water pollution in Iraqi waterways.
Student Maysar Jaber Hammoud from the College of Education for Humanities at the University of Basra discussed his doctoral dissertation on machine learning, drone piloting, and remote sensing: an innovative approach to monitoring water pollution in Iraqi waterways. The dissertation was awarded by the National University of Science and Technology "Politnica" Bucharest in Romania.
The dissertation aimed to present an integrated artificial intelligence-based system that identifies types of pollutants using drones and real-time analysis, while also monitoring spatial and qualitative conditions and directly notifying relevant authorities.
The Dean of the College, Dr. Wissam Jumaa, commended this scientific achievement, emphasizing its importance in supporting research efforts aimed at protecting the Iraqi environment and developing tools for monitoring water resources.
