University of Basrah Organizes a Seminar on Antibiotics
As part of the Antibiotic Awareness Week, the College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Basrah organized a scientific seminar titled “Antibiotics.”
The event aimed to enhance awareness and educate attendees on the proper use of antibiotics and the consequences of their misuse on public health.
The seminar included a lecture delivered by faculty members, who discussed the history and development of antibiotics, their various types, mechanisms of action, and their uses over time. The speakers also highlighted the current challenges associated with improper antibiotic use, particularly the emergence of antibiotic-resistant bacterial strains.
The seminar concluded with several recommendations, emphasizing the importance of consulting a physicianbefore taking any antibiotic and using it correctly to help prevent the spread of antibiotic resistance.
