The College of Dentistry at the University of Basra organized a specialized scientific lecture entitled “Pulp Regeneration for Non-Living Teeth,” attended by a number of students and faculty members.
The lecture, presented by Lecturer Hayam Salah, provided a detailed explanation of the modern method for diagnosing and treating underdeveloped periodontal teeth with dead pulp. These cases present a real challenge for dentists due to the difficulty of working with underdeveloped tooth roots.
The lecture explained that pulp regeneration (regenerative endodontics) is a relatively new treatment technique that aims to stimulate continued root growth and natural development, unlike the traditional method of apexification, which halts growth without completing root formation.
The lecture also addressed the basic steps and principles of bioregenerative treatment and its importance in improving treatment outcomes for underdeveloped permanent teeth, emphasizing the advanced role of this method in supporting the global trend towards conservative treatments based on bioregeneration. The lecture concluded with a discussion session during which students asked questions to enhance their clinical understanding of the technique and its potential applications in daily practice.
