The Department of Quranic Sciences at the College of Education for Humanities, University of Basra, organized an online seminar entitled "The Impact of Education on Combating and Treating Extremism from an Islamic Perspective," as part of its efforts to promote intellectual awareness and confront deviant ideologies.
The seminar aimed to shed light on the phenomenon of extremism and its negative effects on the stability of societies, and to outline Islamic approaches to addressing it.
The seminar, presented by Dr. Ahmed Dakhel Khalati, Lecturer Alaa Abdul Zahra, Lecturer Amjad Abdul Karim, and Lecturer Jamal Naeem, included a discussion of extremism as a threat to social and intellectual security, and as a contradiction of the tolerant values of Islam, which call for justice, dialogue, and the rejection of violence.
The seminar also addressed the role of education in countering extremism by correcting misconceptions, raising awareness among youth about the values of tolerance, and instilling the fundamental principles that strengthen the spirit of citizenship and curb the spread of intolerance
