The University of Basra achieved third place among public universities in the 2025 Iraqi University Ranking, announced by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. This ranking, compiled by the Scientific Supervision and Evaluation Authority, assessed over 100 public and private universities across Iraq. The evaluation was based on nine key institutional performance indicators: institutional accreditation standards (15%), international rankings (10%), scientific research effectiveness (35%), sustainable development and green indicators (10%), assessment of the scientific and academic landscape and compliance rules (5%), awards (5%), international diversity (10%), occupational health and safety and environmental protection (5%), and activities (5%). The ranking results, published on the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research's official website, highlighted the University of Basra's excellence and progress in scientific, research, and institutional performance indicators, reflecting its distinguished academic standing among Iraqi universities. On this occasion, the President of the University of Basra, Dr. Muhannad Jawad Al-Asadi, extended his warmest congratulations to the university's leadership. All members of the university, including faculty, researchers, staff, and students, affirmed that this achievement is the fruit of collective work and institutional integration, and evidence of the university’s continuous commitment to improving the quality of education and scientific research, and continuing to achieve advanced positions in national and international rankings.
