The Director General of the Marine Science Center, Prof. Shaker Ghalib Ajeel, received a delegation from the United Nations Development Program in Iraq.
The purpose of the meeting was to provide all the necessary facilities and preliminary arrangements in preparation for the start of the rehabilitation of the hatchery and fish breeding ponds belonging to the Marine Science Center by the UNDP.
The meeting emphasized that the rehabilitation of the fish hatchery and ponds requires equipping the ponds with clean water and good ventilation, providing a natural environment (rocks and plants), and providing suitable food, with an emphasis on cleanliness, sterilization, periodic testing of water and organisms, and the use of modern techniques to ensure a healthy and sustainable environment.
The Director General also pointed out that the rehabilitation of the hatchery and ponds is part of an effort to develop the center's infrastructure and maximize its financial resources to promote the concept of the center and the productive university.
