An expanded official meeting was held to discuss the articles of a memorandum of scientific and technical cooperation between the Council and the Consulting Office at the College of Agriculture, University of Basra.
Dr. Shukr Mahmoud Jassim and Mr. Mohammed Falih Al-Batat, Head of the Agriculture and Water Resources Committee of the Basra Provincial Council, met with Professor Dr. Mohsen Abdul-Hay Dashar, Director of the Consulting Office at the College of Agriculture, University of Basra, and Dr. Salem Ajjar Bandar, a member of the office, to discuss the mechanisms for signing a joint scientific cooperation memorandum to support and develop the agricultural sector in the province.
The meeting aimed to activate the partnership between the legislative and academic institutions by providing specialized technical consultations, addressing water resource challenges, and linking development decisions with solid university expertise to ensure the achievement of sustainable food security in Basra.
The attendees emphasized that the memorandum will represent a formal framework for utilizing scientific research to serve field projects and develop the agricultural sector in the province.
