Under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Abdulameer Abdullah Almusawi, Dean of the College of Nursing at Basrah University, the College of Nursing at Basrah University organized a workshop on the skill of inserting
(Endotreachal tube).
The assistant researcher, Ali Abdul-Razzaq Al-Hashem, lectured, and the workshop included an applied work in the Nursing Fundamentals Laboratory on the skill and method of insertion of the endotracheal tube.
The endotracheal tube has different sizes according to age and body composition, the patient's body should be in flat position and the head in sniffing position. The uses include :uper airway obstructio
, general surgical operations, cardiac arrest,
respiratory distress and arrest ,, Apnea.
The contraindications to the use of the endotracheal tube and its short and long term complications were discussed.
The researcher recommended that students and graduates should master the endotracheal tube fitting because of its great benefit for patients in intensive care, especially in critical situations.
