A master's thesis at the College of Agriculture, University of Basra, was titled "The Effect of Organic Fertilizer and Ascorbic and Salicylic Acids on Growth Indicators and Chemical and Anatomical Characteristics of Olive Seedling Leaves."
The thesis, presented by researcher Aya Jassim Mohammed, aimed to determine the effect of soil application of organic fertilizer and spraying with the organic acids salicylic and ascorbic, as well as the interaction between them, on the characteristics of olive seedling leaves.
The study included a factorial experiment with two factors: soil application of organic fertilizer and spraying with the organic acids salicylic and ascorbic, to determine their effect on vegetative growth characteristics, chemical changes, leaf anatomy, and the content of active compounds in the leaves.
The thesis recommended the application of organic fertilizer to the soil at a concentration of 6 ml/L¹ due to its role in promoting plant growth and its environmentally friendly nature. It also suggested the possibility of using foliar sprays with salicylic acid at a concentration of 300 mg/L¹ and ascorbic acid at a concentration of 100 mg/L¹ to improve vegetative and root growth characteristics, as well as the chemical and anatomical properties of leaves.
