The student branch of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) within the Department of Petroleum and Gas Engineering at the College of Engineering, University of Basrah, participated in organizing a scientific symposium held by the SPE Basrah Section at the Petroleum Cultural Center on February 5, 2026. The symposium, titled "Applications of Artificial Intelligence in the Oil Industry," was distinguished by the presence of Mr. Olivier Houzé, President of the SPE International for 2025. The sessions reviewed the latest digital technologies and their role in developing the industry. The event concluded with interactive discussions aimed at enhancing knowledge exchange between students of the department and experts in the field.
