Under the patronage of the President of the University of Basrah, Professor Dr. Muhannad Jawad Kadhim, and the direct supervision of the Dean of the College of Nursing, Assistant Professor Dr. Majid Asghar Muhammad Al-Nawab, the Continuing Education Unit, the E-Incubator Unit, and the Student Activities Unit at the College organized a workshop as part of Global Leadership Week. The workshop was presented by students Muhammad Mithaq Abdul-Razzaq and Hussein Yasser Hawas, under the supervision of Instructor Afkar Fadhil Karim, Head of the Fundamentals of Nursing Department.The workshop covered several important topics, including defining mental health, the role of the university-trained nurse in mental health, and its importance as an integral part of public health and a fundamental element in professional performance and decision-making. It also addressed a state of psychological and social balance. Researchers discussed key definitions of mental health and the importance of creating a state of psychological and social balance, the ability to control emotions and impulses, and positive interaction with others. The researchers also touched upon the constant psychological pressure experienced by nurses in hospitals, which causes them immense stress.The workshop aimed to educate nurses about the role of the university-trained nurse, emphasizing that it extends beyond simply administering medication and monitoring patients. It also aimed to provide guidance and support in the nurse-patient relationship and to equip them with the skills to handle situations that arise in healthcare institutions.
