Under the patronage of Professor Dr. Muhannad Jawad Kadhim, President of the University of Basra, and the direct supervision of Assistant Professor Dr. Majid Asghar Muhammad Al-Nawab, Dean of the College of Nursing at the University of Basra, the Continuing Education Unit, the E-Incubator Unit, and the Student Activities Unit at the College hosted leading figures in the field of nursing as part of the College of Nursing's Global Entrepreneurship Week. The lecture was attended by Assistant Professor Dr. Sundus Baqir Dawood, Associate Dean for Scientific Affairs, and a number of faculty members and students.
The lecture aimed to provide a general introduction to the topic of entrepreneurship and a historical overview of its emergence. It highlighted that entrepreneurship has not yet gained widespread acceptance among our students, whether at the College of Nursing or other educational institutions, and discussed the concept of university business incubators, similar to those implemented in some advanced countries worldwide. The lecture addressed the key differences between an entrepreneur and a businessman, as well as the distinctions between entrepreneurs and other members of society. Entrepreneurs possess unique characteristics, including an innovative mindset and a willingness to take risks. They often have a sharp intellect but lack substantial capital, enabling them to generate wealth. The lecture also explored the history of the term "entrepreneurship." Furthermore, the guest speaker discussed prominent entrepreneurial experiences in the pharmaceutical field, highlighting the success story of one individual who established a distinguished pharmacy that has expanded beyond Iraq's provinces: Al-Kindi Pharmacy.
At the end of the lecture, a documentary film showcasing the entrepreneurial journey of Dr. Rana Asghar Mohammed Al-Nawab, founder of Mawteni Schools, was screened.
