
The College of Dentistry at the University of Basrah organized a concise scientific seminar for postgraduate students, addressing the latest scientific developments related to the causes of oral infections from the perspective of oral medical microbiology.
The seminar opened with a lecture by Professor Dr. Salman Sahib Atshan on the oral environment and the factors leading to pathological infections. This was followed by a lecture by Lecturer Zainab Abdulkarim on dental caries and its causes, then a lecture by Assistant Lecturer Murtadha Imad on the causes of periodontal diseases. The seminar concluded with a lecture by Lecturer Surur Ali on microbial infections in the mouth.
The seminar aimed to provide postgraduate students with the latest scientific developments on the causes of oral infections from the perspective of oral medical microbiology, clarifying the pathological mechanisms and causative factors, introducing modern molecular diagnostic methods and the importance of early detection, and promoting awareness of scientifically approved preventive methods. This contributes to developing students' skills in diagnosing and preventing oral infections.
At the conclusion of the seminar, Professor Dr. Salman Saheb Atshan commended the active participation and organization, affirming that the seminar had achieved its scientific objectives. The Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs and Graduate Studies was also present.
