The College of Dentistry at the University of Basra, in cooperation with the Science and Religion Forum in Basra, held a cultural seminar to commemorate the birth of Imam al-Mahdi (may God hasten his reappearance). The seminar was attended by faculty members, staff, and students.
The seminar, presented by Mr. Aqeel al-Kharsan, addressed the intellectual and doctrinal dimensions of Imam al-Mahdi's character (peace be upon him) and their impact on establishing the concepts of reform, justice, and social awareness. It also highlighted the importance of drawing upon human values to build a conscious and responsible generation of academics.
The speaker emphasized the pivotal role of academic institutions in strengthening a sound cultural and religious identity and protecting youth from contemporary intellectual challenges. He stressed that commemorating religious occasions serves as an opportunity to reinforce connection to authentic values and solidify the principles of moderation and balance.
This seminar is part of a series of cultural activities that the college is keen to organize, in line with the University of Basra’s orientations to support scientific and intellectual activities that contribute to building the university student’s personality scientifically and culturally.
