The College of Dentistry at the University of Basra, in cooperation with the Student Activities Division, held an open dialogue session with students entitled "Combating Violent Extremism."
The session aimed to raise student awareness of the dangers of violent extremism and to provide an interactive discussion space to explore its causes and ways to address it from an educational and social perspective.
The session, presented by Dr. Firas Hassan from the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences, included direct questions and comments from students. These addressed the impact of the digital environment, the role of university activities in instilling values of tolerance and coexistence, and mechanisms for building a positive youth discourse that promotes moderation.
The session emphasized the need to activate cultural, sports, and artistic programs as preventative measures that contribute to channeling the energies of young people constructively and reinforce the concept of social responsibility within the university campus.
