The Cultural Center holds the annual poetry festival in celebration of the blessed births in the month of Sha'ban.
The Cultural Center at the University of Basra, in cooperation with the College of Arts / Department of Information and Knowledge Technologies, held its annual poetry festival, "The Radiant Muhammadan Moons," in celebration of the births of the infallible Imams (peace be upon them) in the blessed month of Sha'ban. The festival's activities began with the recitation of auspicious verses from the Holy Quran, followed by a speech from the Director of the Cultural Center, Professor Dr. Nizar Abdul Mohsen Jafar, then a speech by the Head of the Department of Information and Knowledge Technologies, Professor Dr. Amal Abdul Rahman Abdul Wahid. In addition, a research paper on the birth of Imam Mahdi (may Allah hasten his reappearance) was presented by Dr. Ali Mohair, along with a segment of popular poetry that featured a poetic contest between the poets Abbas Al-Fraiji and Tamouz Al-Maliki in praise of the pure household of the Prophet. The events concluded with a religious competition that received notable interaction from the attendees.
Professor Dr. Nizar Abdul Mohsen Jafar, Director of the Cultural Center, emphasized that holding this festival is part of the university's efforts to consolidate cultural and spiritual values, and to enhance awareness of the biography of the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them) through literature and poetry, as they are effective means of spreading culture.
