The Continuing Education Unit, in collaboration with the Community Health Branch, organized a workshop on “Vaccinations: Between Awareness and Practice.” The workshop was presented by Assistant Lecturer Malak Obaid Naghimsh, Assistant Lecturer Anam Hamoudi Jassim, and Assistant Lecturer Duha Majid Abdul-Rahim. The workshop addressed the importance of vaccines, introduce their types, and debunk common myths, in support of informed health behaviors and a safer society. Vaccines are considered a fundamental and effective means of preventing infectious diseases by stimulating the immune system to produce protection without exposure to the disease. Vaccines come in various types, such as live-attenuated, inactivated, and mRNA vaccines, all of which aim to strengthen individual and community immunity.
The speakers emphasized that despite their scientifically proven effectiveness, certain misconceptions continue to limit uptake, necessitating the promotion of evidence-based health awareness.
