The University of Basra Organizes a Training Course on Spectral Interferences in Flame Atomic Absorption
The Marine Sciences Center at the University of Basra organized a training course titled “Spectral Interferences in Flame Atomic Absorption and How to Address Them.”
The course aimed to enable participants to identify and understand the types of spectral interferences that appear during the analysis of samples using flame atomic absorption spectroscopy, and to equip them with the practical skills to address and eliminate these interferences in order to obtain accurate and reliable results.
The course, presented by Dr. Bassam Ashour Rashid and a number of researchers, included an introduction to the technique, the operating principle of the flame atomic absorption spectrometer, common errors, and types of spectral interferences —background absorption, spectral line overlap, and non-spectral matrix effects.
It also covered diagnostic methods, mitigation strategies,
and steps for quality control and improving accuracy.
