

A PhD dissertation in the Department of Arabic Language at the College of Arts, University of Basrah, entitled “Narrative and the Production of Knowledge: A Study of Al-Jahiz’s Book of Animals”, was discussed.
The dissertation, presented by researcher Hussein Imad Sadiq, aimed to uncover the methodological and discursive patterns employed by Al-Jahiz in constructing his literary project.
The study examined the encyclopedic nature of the book and analyzed its narrative structure, communication mechanisms, and patterns of environmental, behavioral, theological, and literary knowledge.
The dissertation concluded that narrative functioned as a productive vessel of knowledge, contributing to the organization of knowledge and the representation of the world within a comprehensive intellectual and cultural vision.
