
The College of Dentistry at the University of Basrah held its first course on Chemical, Biological, and Radiological Safety and Security (CBRN), with the participation of several specialized professors and postgraduate students.
The course, presented by Assistant Professor Dr. Abdulrahman Falih Hassan, focused on radiation safety, reviewing the concepts of radiation, types of radioactive contamination and their risks, as well as the effects of radiation on laboratory personnel, safety requirements, emergency plans, and radiation detection mechanisms.
The course aims to enhance postgraduate students' understanding of CBRN safety and security, raise awareness of radiation hazards and methods of prevention, and contribute to providing a safe laboratory environment and adhering to approved safety procedures within the educational and research laboratories at the University of Basrah.
The lecture was attended by a number of postgraduate students specializing in oral microbiology, as the course is a mandatory graduation requirement, reflecting the university's efforts to promote occupational safety within its educational and research laboratories.
