| The College of Nursing at the University of Basra held a training course entitled “Fundamentals of First Aid”, in cooperation with the Center for Continuing Education at the University of Basra, in which each of (Assistant Professor Dr. Sajjad Salem Issa), (Dr. Sundus Baqer Dawood), (Dr. Sawsan Abdel Razzaq) and ( Teacher Hajer Salem Issa), (teacher Afkar Fadel Karim) and (Assistant Lecturer Alia Hussein Ali) and Mrs. (Najla Mahmoud Hamid) in charge of continuing education in the college, and the course included the concept of first aid as it represents the assistance or treatment provided to a person who suffered an injury or disease in a place He does not have adequate medical treatment in order to preserve his life and safety until he arrives at the hospital , It indicated the most important qualities of a paramedic, which are patience, calmness and familiarity with medical procedures. It also included the general principles of first aid, indicating the materials and tools that must be provided in the first aid box for the paramedic first and in every home second. The course witnessed practical applications such as glaucoma, measuring blood pressure, blood sugar, respiratory resuscitation, fractures, confronting coma and poisoning cases, in addition to severe bleeding from severe head injury. This course comes within the college’s program to provide support to this segment of society, in addition to the college’s keenness to spread health awareness and training on first aid because of its urgent need, especially in light of the current situation that our dear country is going through. | ![]() |
