A master's thesis entitled "The Jurist al-Kirmani and His Impact on Fatimid Thought" was discussed in the History Department, College of Arts.
The thesis, presented by the student Asaad Abboud Al-Fartousi, included four chapters. The first chapter dealt with the biography and the scholarly position of al-Kirmani. The second chapter discussed Al-Kirmani's intellectual role in the Fatimid preachment. The third chapter involved proving the Imamate in Kirmani thought. While the fourth chapter referred al-Kirmani's intellectual vision of the Last Day.
The thesis aims to show the intellectual and cognitive impact of one of the most prominent jurists, scholars, preachers and philosophers in the Fatimid state, who appeared during the rule of the Fatimid Caliph Al-Hakim bi-Amr Allah, Hamid al-Din Ahmad al-Kirmani. His pen lined many books and letters explaining the Ismaili doctrines, which focused mainly on the issue of the unification of the divine self, the place of prophet hood, and the position of the Imamate, which made him occupy a prominent position in the Ismaili preachment.
The study concluded that Al-Kirmani left a great legacy for researchers and prospectors on the Fatimid Islamic philosophical heritage in particular and Islamic philosophy in general. So, he produced several books that were overflowing with innovative meanings and ideas and high philosophical opinions that he derived according to his understanding and interpretations of the Holy Qur’an and books of the Torah. This high-status and great ability emerged mainly on the issue of the unification of the divine self and the status of prophet hood and the imamate.
