A master's thesis entitled "The Climatic Characteristics of the Iraqi Regional Waters and Their Impact on Maritime Transport and Fishing", was discussed in the Department of Geography and Geographic Information Systems.
The thesis, presented by the student Ahmed Majed Abdul Amir Al-Asadi, included five chapters in which he discussed the climatic characteristics of the Iraqi regional waters, the geographical distribution of economic activities, the impact of climatic characteristics on maritime transport and marine facilities and workers in marine activities.
The thesis concluded that the temporal and spatial variation in the climatic characteristics between the terminals of the Basra oil port, Al-Faw and Boubyan had affected the maritime transport and fishing in the study area.
The thesis discussed the variation in climatic characteristics in the Iraqi regional waters, changes in climatic characteristics and the extent of their impact on maritime transport, oil export and fishing.
