At the University of Basrah - College of Medicine a Board thesis entitled; Screening For Cardiovascular Risk Factors in Pediatric Psoriasis Among Iraqi Patients: A Case-control Study, was discussed. The thesis presented by student Farah Abdul-Hassan Kadhem aims to investigate the risk factors that increase the incidence of co-morbid cardiovascular diseases and metabolic syndrome among Iraqi children and adolescents with psoriasis, and the relationship of psoriasis severity with these co-morbidities . The thesis concluded that pediatric psoriatic patients in our population had an atherogenic lipid profile with an increased prevalence of risk factors for cardiovascular diseases and metabolic syndrome and this was directly correlated with the severity of the disease.
