A master's thesis entitled "The Effect of Context in Directing the Linguistic Significance in the Commentaries of Diwan al-Mutanabi" was discussed in the Department of Arabic Language, College of Arts.
The thesis, presented by the student Fatima Jaafar Saeed, included three chapters. The first chapter dealt with the effect of context in directing the significance of the morphological form. The second chapter involved the effect of context in clarifying the grammatical aspects and directing their connotations. The third chapter included the effect of context in explaining semantic relationships and directing their connotations.
The study aims to demonstrate the reliance of the commentators of Diwan al-Mutanabbi on the internal linguistic context in analyzing the poetic text full of connotations with which al-Mutanabbi’s poetry was known, as a mechanism in text analysis.
The thesis concluded that the commentators employ their linguistic visions in explaining and analyzing the poetry of al-Mutanabi by standing at his intentions, explaining what he closed his words, clarifying their meanings, and directing his parsing, presenting through explanations conscious and multiple readings that relied in reality on the context and the possibilities it offers in directing its meanings, presenting through the annotations of conscious, multiple readings that depend in reality on the context and the possibilities it offers in directing its meanings and directing its expression, presenting through the explanations of conscious and multiple readings that depend in their reality on the context and the possibilities it offers in directing its meanings.
