On Monday morning, 25/10/2020, at the Department of Geography and Geographic Information Systems, College of Arts, an M.A. thesis entitled Spatial Modeling of Morpho-climatic variations in Ali Al-Gharbi District- Maysan Governorate Via RS and GIS.
The thesis, which is submitted by student Salwa Hazim Khalalf, included four chapters. The first chapter discusses building databases of natural factors. The second one looks into climatic and geomorphic modeling in Ali Al-Gharbi district. In addition, the third chapter provides the detection of morpho-climatic and landform processes by using spectral indicators and clues in the region. Moreover, the fourth chapter addresses the environmental suitability and its impact on human activity.
The study aims at creating digital database for natural factors and their impacts on the geomorphic processes. It also aims building simulation models to learn about the impact of climate in the geomorphological shaping. Moreover, the thesis strives for determining land suitability class through matching of natural factors layers impacting the formation of morph-climatic variations.
The thesis reaches at working on building spatial databases about the region within a unified project for the country adopted by the relevant authorities for the purpose of digital archiving and informational sustainability. It also recommends the drawing of interactive environmental maps that illustrate the suitability, capacity and potential of human uses at classification levels according to risk and appropriateness.
