A new book entitled “Basics of Ecology” was released today by Prof. Dr. Hamid Al-Saad, Dean of the College of Marine Sciences. The book is located in 16 chapters. It discussed various topics in ecology, starting from studying the conceptual basis of this science through major environmental cycles, components of the ecosystem, energy flow, food chains, ecological succession and dynamics, and the biological community and species. The book also dealt with the land and marine environment, pollution, food poisoning as well as the environmental sustainability.
