The University of Basrah-College of Medicine Hosted The Workshop of Basics and Applications of Cell culture

Under the Patronage of Chancellor of University of Basrah and the Dean of College of Medicine,The college of Medicine hosted the workshop of Basics and Applications of Cell culture for 3 days as a theory in Al-Zahraa Lecture Hall while the practical part was conducted in the core lab. The workshop trained the participants how to deal with any cell culture arrives to the laboratory from different aspects such as maintenance, subculture, enumeration and preparation for the upcoming experiments such as studying viruses and gene therapy, drug development or stem cell culture. The trainees dealt with PC3 and Vero cell lines including examination under inverted microscope, checking the viability, enumeration, subculture and preparing them in different types of culture vessel such as 24 well plate. In the third day the trainees checked the cultures and compared them with the initial culture that arrived to the laboratory.
