The Department of Chemistry, in cooperation with the Center for Development and Continuing Education at the University of Basra, held an electronic lecture within the visiting professor program tagged:
“Nanomaterial Impacts on Sensors Performance”
Delivered by Prof. Dr. Al-Mursi Abdel-Fattah Khaled, the research professor at the National Research Center in the Republic of Egypt, on Sunday 13/6/2021.
The lecture included a review of the subject of sensors, their specifications, importance and various applications, as well as nanomaterials and carbon nanotubes, their use in the field of sensors and the development of their performance, as well as a review of CNTs- biosensors for glucose and peptide, as nanomaterials have a significant impact on sensor performance, including sensitivity and selectivity. The sensors for graphene and biosensors for rapid testing of pesticides were also presented. The effect of carbon-based materials has been demonstrated in a large variety of applications, including electrochemical sensors. Moreover, the combination of various nanomaterials (nanotubes, graphene, metallic nanoparticles and macromolecules) in composites in order to explore their synergistic effects has become a broad field of scientific research.
The discussion was held by the attendees with the visiting professor, where the attendees praised the importance of the lecture from a scientific point of view and thanked those in charge of organizing and following up on this lecture. It is noteworthy that the attendance was from various Iraqi, Arab and international universities and from different countries such as Britain, Egypt, Algeria, Libya and Yemen.
