Basra University Holds Its International Conference (Modern Trends in Literature and Language)
The College of Education for Human Sciences at the University of Basra held its sixth international scientific conference.
With the participation of Iraqi, Arab and international universities, the conference aims to prepare young scientific cadres to benefit from the scientific experience and knowledge accumulation of their professors and to create an atmosphere of scientific cross-fertilization and specialized competition. It also aims to open new horizons for knowledge and specialized work in the areas involved in the department’s specialization as an English language department that prepares young public cadres specialized in teaching English language and literature for middle and secondary schools as well as primary education in some cases and when necessary.
The conference included (recitation of the wise Quran, reading Surat Al-Fatihah on the souls of the martyrs of Iraq, the national anthem, the speech of the president of the university, the speech of the dean of the college and the head of the department, and two morning and evening sessions).
On the sidelines of the conference, a lecture was held in English, delivered by English Professor Stephen Rican - Professor of Poetry at Durham University, on the Irish poet Seamus Heaney.
