Basra University Holds Its International Conference (The Qur’an and Contemporary Challenges)
The College of Education for Human Sciences at Basra University held its (second) international scientific conference with the participation of Iraqi, Arab and international universities. through the Qur'an.
The conference included the opening ceremony, which included the recitation of the Noble Qur’an, the national anthem, and a speech by the Dean of the College, Prof. Hamid Siraj Jaber, and the speech of the head of the Department of Quranic Sciences and Islamic Education, Dr. Qassem Abbas Laibi, which was followed by a morning and evening scientific session in which specialized research was delivered by professors from Iraq, Algeria, Morocco, Egypt, Syria, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Iran, Malaysia, Nigeria and Italy.
The conference recommended the inclusion of modern societal problems and their treatments in Islamic education curricula, proposing courses that address contemporary problems in postgraduate curricula and in writing theses and theses, holding international conferences in a more accurate and profound manner, establishing an institute specialized in the Qur’an, and issuing an international refereed Quranic journal in which professors from the Islamic world contribute.
