university of basrah has held a seminar about the impact of oak crust extracts on Leishmania parasites.
Dr. Suha Haytham Mohammed from Clinical Laboratory Sciences department at the College of Pharmacy has presented a seminar entitled:(Study of the effect of alkaline compounds Iso-quinoline and Beta-Carboline isolated from oak pee on the viability of visceral leishmaniasis parasite in glass and in laboratory mice).
The seminar introduced a study that explains the role of oak plant and the characteristic features of its active substances such as alkaloids, phenols and turbines on the visceral leishmania parasite (Leishmaniasis),which is locally known as (Baghdad boil).The study has aimed to know the treatment of parasitic skin diseases such as Leishmaniasis and visceral diseases such as black fever of children by herbal drugs and because chemical drugs like ointment and cream may have different toxic side effects therefore, this study has interested in plant extracts such as oak husks (peat) to treat such ulcers .
