The College of Education for Pure Sciences is considered one of the colleges of the University of Basra that has awarded master’s and doctorate degrees in the departments of Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics and Computer Science since the eighties of the last century in most of the subspecialties of the college departments. The number of competitors for this year reached 166 students distributed among the college departments, where there were 21 students in the Department of Computer Science for the study of masters, the Department of Mathematics 28 students for the doctoral and master's studies, the Department of Physics 28 students for the doctoral and master's studies, the Department of Chemistry 49 students for the doctoral and master's studies, and finally the Biology department 40 students for the PhD and master's
