A doctoral thesis at the College of Engineering at the University of Basrah discussed (the behavior of bi-directional slabs containing slots and reinforced or treated after burning using carbon-polymer strips with NSM technology). The thesis presented by the student Azhar Ghaleb Hamad dealt with two parts, an experimental part and a numerical part. The experimental part included pouring a set of SCC plates with a slot, which includes 6 reference samples without burning, strengthening or restoration, 6 samples damaged by fire and 24 reinforced samples or Refinished with CFRP tapes in different styles. Another set was cast to investigate the effect of fire flame and air treatment method after fire on the bond strength, compressive strength and modulus of elasticity
.The test results showed that the air treatment results show a significant resistance recovery and its extent depends on the air treatment period.
The second part is the numerical solution. This is achieved using nonlinear finite element (NLFE) modeling performed using ABAQUS software. The validity of the NLFE model was validated by using the experimental results of tests on SCC slabs with sound, fire damaged and reinforced. The thesis concluded that the reinforcement efficiency of CFRP sheets is lower than that of CFRP tape with the same reinforcement area, and that the final load in the event of a fire on the upper surface is greater than that in the case of impact on the lower surface.
